Search by Name
Step 1 – Visit the Vermont Secretary of State website to start a Vermont business name search. The page looks like the screenshot given below.
Step 2 – Type the business name in the field. For a sample search, let us type the company name “Air Now” in the business name field. Also, specify the narrowing options by clicking on the radio buttons. Have a look at the screenshot below for the same. Click on the search button. The result page will soon appear with a list of entities shown in the screenshot below.
Step 3 – Click on an entity name to get further details about it. The screenshot for the same is as shown below.
Available information includes;
- Business Name
- Business Structure (Corporation, Limited Liability Company, etc.)
- Date of Formation
- Business Description
- Business Physical Address
- Business ID
- Vermont Registered Agent contact information
- Business Status (Active is Good Standing, Inactive is Not in Good Standing with the state)
- Business owner name
In addition, you can review filed documents such as the Articles of Incorporation (Corporation), Articles of Organization (LLC), Trade Name, and Annual Report.
Search by Business ID
Not used as often, if you have the business identification number assigned by the Secretary of State, you can search with it.
Search by Filing Number
If you have the entity filing number provided by the Secretary of State, you can search by that number as well.
